Poltergeist Trailer

This trailer displayed a lot of short and abrupt shots, this was used in order to create curiosity and excitement from the audience. We hope to achieve this in our trailer. there was also a lot of establishing shots so that the viewers can see the family's surroundings, it is also very dramatic. Also they're were elements of transition effects like fade to black this causes a pause between scenes to build tension.
What we liked about this trailer was the fact that montage editing was used in order to give meaning to the audience and help explain the story-line. We will do something similar in our own trailer in order to capture the audiences attention. We often hear a voice over in this trailer, happy sounds at first that then turns into terrified screams, this foreshadows that there will be danger in this film and gives an indication to the audience as to how this film will pan out. Also the use of a melody made this trailer more dramatic and it builds tension. The sound starts off slow and then the instrumental music pace picks up which heightens anxiety for the audience. Overall this is a very good trailer and we hope to use some of these features to make our own trailer good. This trailer had good jumpy clips with loud scary music which overall added to the scariness of this trailer.
