The Woman in Black Trailer
We chose 'The Women in Black' trailer because we believe it has a similar story-line too our movie; therefore this will be a good trailer to get inspiration from. We especially liked the fact that in between shots there was a blank screen with some sort of writing on. We will most likely be using something similar to this in our own trailer. What we didn't want to incorporate in our film unlike The Women in Black was that the film was set in the past. We know that it is set in the past from the very start of the trailer showing the characters choice of clothing. Also the setting gives an indication to the audience that this is set in the past... The house itself is the perfect location for a horror/thriller as it has all the typical conventions that you would expect to find; it's large, dark and old. This is something we are thinking about incorporating in our own trailer. This establishing shot is one of my favorites so far, I like the fact that the shot seems completely symmetrical with fences either side. This looks like a stereotypical ghost house and although its cliche i think its nice that they have included this in the film. This establishing shot from a high angle is used to show the Moore to the audience. It helps them understand the setting of this movie. I think this also adds to the scariness of the film as it puts us on edge because if anything was to happen to the main character he cant escape to some place safe.
